Ramai Awas Yojana

The State Government of Maharashtra implements the ‘Ramai Awas Yojana’ to help homeless citizens or those living in kutcha houses belonging to the Scheduled Castes (SC) and Navabouddha categories build their own permanent (pucca) homes.

🎯 Eligibility Criteria

  • The applicant must be a resident of Maharashtra and belong to the Scheduled Caste (SC) or Navabouddha category.
  • Annual family income must not exceed ₹1 lakh in rural areas and ₹3 lakh in urban areas.
  • The family must not own a pucca house anywhere in Maharashtra.
  • The applicant must have their own land (or the land where their kutcha house stands) to build the new house.

💰 Benefits & Subsidy

  • For Rural Areas: A subsidy of ₹1,20,000 for house construction, plus additional funds for MGNREGA wages and a toilet (totaling around ₹1.5 lakh).
  • For Urban Areas: In Municipal Corporation and Municipal Council limits, a subsidy of ₹2,50,000 is provided for house construction.

  1. Application Process: Application forms are available at the Gram Panchayat office for rural areas, and at the Municipal Council/Corporation offices for urban areas.
  2. Documents: Caste certificate, income certificate, Aadhaar card, proof of residence (7/12, 8-A, or property tax receipt), and bank passbook.
  3. Approval: After scrutiny by the Social Welfare Department, the house is approved, and funds are transferred to the bank account in stages based on construction progress.
